In the upcoming episode of conductor Jan Bubák’s video interview series, you’ll meet the charismatic Italian maestro Daniele Gatti, who will perform this weekend at the Dvořák Prague Festival together with the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Just a few days ago, the two conductors met in Dresden to discuss not only the interpretative challenges of Mahler’s score, but also such topics as “cosmopolitan tempo” and the constraints of tradition. You’ll hear their take on how today’s commercialized music world has affected the conducting profession, and what lies ahead for the fast-tracked maestros.
In closing, Maestro Gatti shares how he forms his own artistic judgment in a world filled with interpretive clichés and conventions.
